Big Dawg Sportfishing’s Captain Mike Biffel

Captain Mike Biffel has fished the Florida Keys for 40 years, everywhere from Key Biscayne to the Dry Tortugas, and throughout the Everglades.

From Inshore Flats to Reefs, Wrecks, and Offshore fishing, he has perfected techniques in all areas.  Best of all, Mike enjoys fishing as much, if not more, than his crew.

Mike has fished many local and renowned tournaments including the South Florida Metropolitan Tournament, the Southern Kingfish Tournament, The South Florida Bull & Cow (dolphin) Tournament and La Guaira Billfish Slam in Venezuela.  He also holds several records with the IGFA (International Game Fish Association).  In addition to this Captain Mike fishes Casa Vieja Lodge in Guatemala and Tropic Star Lodge in Panama.

Captain Mike specializes in live bait and light tackle techniques, using 8 pound, 10 pound, 12 pound, 16 pound, 20 pound and 30 pound line. Captain Mike enjoys filling his live wells with pilchards, threadfins, shrimp, ballyhoo & blue runners for larger species.
